Battles to fight, on and off the field

Sunday, May 30th, 2010

I recently finished a project for a client who has taken her own childhood experience and is working to create a book out of it, as a method of reaching out and helping others. The images revolve around a teenage girl who finds out that she has bone cancer in her knee. With the help of St. Jude’s Children’s hospital, the support of her friends and family, and her faith, she is able to overcome this major obstacle.

These images are simply concept images for the client to use in a proposal to accompany the text if she were to present it to a publisher. A lot more research and reference, both for environment and the figures, could certainly be done before going to the next step on these images.

9 images in total, here’s a few:

Holy matrimony is better with dolphins and seals.

A little over a year ago a good friend from home asked me to design a “Save the Date” for himself and his bride-to-be. They are getting married in a little over a month this July 4th – so fireworks were a must in terms of visuals. Maureen is from Long Island, which is also where the wedding will be, so they were envisioning something including the sea. Tim also wanted to keep the image loose and sketchy.

I brought the marine life to the table.

I think it was a success, not only in terms of the digital cut and paste collage of photo and drawing, but also in representing this young, fun couple getting ready to celebrate a big time in their lives with their friends and family.
